I am Teuta Shabani Towler, born in Mitrovica, Kosova in January, 1976. I went to medical high school in Mitrovica then studied computers and telecommunication. At home, I worked as a nurse, computer instructor, woman right activist, magazine publisher, translator, radio host, marketing coordinator, and reporter. Now on the side, I do freelance writing, designing and translating.
I lived in Mitrovica all my life until I moved to US in 2004 with my husband, John Towler, Jr. We met in Kosova working for United Nation. It was the most difficult, scary, risky decision I have ever made but it’s all worth it. John is a wonderful husband and a responsible loving father to our daughter, Sara who was born in 2006.
From 2001-2003, I published a woman magazine promoting women's rights, called, Women's Life.
In November 2005, I published the first crime novel in Albanian Literature, Murder and Make up with Special Crime Unit..
In June 2007, I edited and was coauthor of the book, Mothers, a collection of poetries and short stories from the members of Albanian Woman World Forum.
I am working on my next novel and when I am stuck, I translate my war journal from Albanian to English. Go to the "stories" link if you'd like to read some of them .
